India is a land that harbors one of the most vibrant and oldest religions, Hinduism. Over the course, of history, a lot of monuments were erected and architecture commissioned. One of the most important symbols of a religion is its sites of pilgrimage and Hinduism is no exception. There are 4 of these sites and traveling to 4 of them is considered important for the attainment of Moksha or Salvation. These 4 sites are 4dham name Badrinath, Dwarka, Puri, and Rameswaram. These 4 together comprise the Bada Char Dham Yatra. Dwarka

Dwarka, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, is well-known for housing numerous historic temples and scenic beaches. On the western bank of the Gomti River, in the Indian state of Gujarat, is where this temple town may be found. It is one of the most significant holy sites in India.
Puri

Puri is located in the state of Odisha and is home to one of the most prominent temples called the Jagganath Puri temple. The main deity of this temple is Lord Krishna and worshipped in the form of Jagannath where he is worshipped along with his sister Subadhra and brother Balbhadra.
Rameswaram

Legend has it, that this is exactly the place from where the army of Lord Rama under his supervision built the Ram Setu to reach Lanka in order to rescue his wife Sita from Ravan’s captivity.
Badrinath

It is one of the holiest towns in Hinduism and is consecrated to Lord Vishnu. It is situated in the Chamoli region. The Badrinath Temple is located 10,279 feet above sea level. Of the four Char Dhams, this temple is the only one to be hidden away in the Himalayas and surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Badrinath is also part of the Chhota 4 Dham Yatra and therefore is not required to be named again in the next section.

Gangotri

Gangotri in Uttarakhand (6597m) is the origin point of the river Bhagirathi that then conflates into the river Alaknanda to create the river, Ganger or Ganga. The nightly Aarti that is held on the banks of the River Ganges is the most captivating sight in this location. The temple was constructed in the 18th century by General Amar Singh.
Yamnotri

Yamnotri in Uttarakhand is the origin of the second most holy river of India, Yamuna which lies at an altitude of around 3293m. The Yamnotri Dham has some of the most serene and splendid temples that you will ever see.
