If you’re just starting out with Icarus, you might want to keep these tips in mind.
Icarus is a PvE survival game where you have to stay alive on a dangerous alien planet. Players take on the role of a prospector who lands on Icarus’s surface hoping to find rare materials and bring them back to get money. To finish missions, players must go to different biomes, deal with harsh environments, and fight off attacks from hostile creatures, all while building up their ability to survive.
With such a big world to explore and master, it can be hard for new players to know where to start. Here are some tips for new players to help them get through their first mission in Icarus.
Find A Source Of Oxygen
Players will start to use up oxygen while prospecting on Icarus, and if they aren’t careful, they will run out of oxygen quickly. Finding a way to add more oxygen should be one of the first things to do when you land on the planet.
To do this, you can mine Oxite, a kind of blue-gray rock that can be found all over the world. Oxite can either be used up in the inventory or put in the oxygen slot of the Envirosuit to get a small amount of oxygen from both methods. After getting the Oxidizer, players can use it to turn oxite into oxygen much more quickly. Before that, though, they will have to mine it.
Find A Source Of Water
At the start of a mission, another important thing to do is find a source of water, which players need to stay hydrated. Lakes, rivers, and ponds are all natural sources of water that should be easy to find in the starting Forest biome.
There are ways to make sure the player doesn’t get thirsty in other biomes that might not be as easy. For example, ice in the arctic biome can be melted to make water, and players can always carry their water in canteens or waterskins. These containers can also be used for other things, such as watering farm plots, and are an important part of any set.
Find A Source Of Food
There are many ways to get food on the planet. For example, you can find and harvest vegetables in most biomes, or you can grow them to have a steady supply of food.
Hunting and fishing are very important, and a bow and arrow is often the best way to do them. If you want to kill a deer with one shot, it’s best to sneak up on it and shoot it in the head. If you don’t, it may run away and be hard to catch. After killing the animal, players should skin it and then disassemble its skeleton to obtain some useful bones.
Cook Your Food
After players have grown or caught their food, they will have to eat it. If you don’t want to get sick, it’s best to cook food over a campfire, especially raw meat.
In general, cooked meats improve health and the rate at which you heal, while vegetables make you stronger. Both types of food have their own uses. So it’s up to the player to decide which ones to focus on. But be aware that food doesn’t heal right away. It takes time for health to come back, so it’s not very useful in a pinch.
Preserve Your Food
Players shouldn’t put food away after it’s been cooked and expect it to still be good when they come back to eat it later. Some foods don’t go bad, but others do. Each food goes bad at a different rate, with some going bad a lot faster than others.
Players can keep their food fresh by putting it in an icebox or refrigerator. Which will make it take a lot longer for the food to go bad. They could also eat one item from a stack, which would reset the spoilage meter for the whole stack and, in theory, make the food last much longer.
Deal With The Dark
When it gets dark at night on Icarus, it can be hard for players to see what they are doing or where they are going. The ‘L’ slot on the toolbar lets players carry a torch or other light source while also holding a tool.
This lets 8 Ball Pool players work and look around at night, and it can also light up dark caves. The player can also just sleep and skip the whole night cycle by setting up a bedroll and a campfire anywhere.
Watch Out For Storms
Storms, which happen often on Icarus, are a danger that keeps coming back. These can be pretty bad because they can knock down trees, destroy player bases, and leave players open to the elements.
Players should find a safe place to hide from the storm so they don’t get hurt or die. This could be anything from a cave to a deep snow pit. You could even dig a hole in a boulder and crouch down inside it to wait out the storm. It’s important that players don’t get caught in a storm, because if they do, they’ll be in trouble.
Finish Missions
In Icarus, it’s important to remember that once a player finishes a mission. They can’t take any of the materials they made or gathered with them, except for exotics. Because of this, the player doesn’t need to save up or gather more resources than they need to stay alive.
Instead, you should focus on making things and getting more experience so you can unlock new and better things later. Players earn money when they finish a mission that they can use to buy these things, so it’s important to leave when the time is right instead of holding on to materials and tools that will be left behind.
Icarus can be played on a PC.
